Welcome to the Lemon Bay Myakka Trail Scenic Highway Information Site! In February, 2008, the Englewood Florida community received their state scenic highway designation. The SR776 corridor includes areas in both Sarasota and Charlotte Counties on Florida's gulf coast. Additional "loops" of roadway were included to help point out to visitors, as well as the local community, of the many historical and natural resources our community has. In general, SR 776 is a four-lane typical section with 12-foot lanes, 4- or 5-foot sidewalks and 4-foot bicycle lanes. The typical section varies slightly throughout the corridor from the beginning in Charlotte County to the terminus in Sarasota County. | How Do You Benefit? Have you ever traveled an area by car and wondered what there was to see along the way? Unless they are pointed out to you, you might have driven right by it not aware it was there! Whether it be scenic, historical, or cultural, I am sure you, the traveler, perhaps visiting the first time, would want to know! The Florida Scenic Highway designation is given to areas throughout state wide, but is a nationwide program. It's purpose is to provide the public, the points of interest and their locations, With grants and matching funding available to these designated highways,it can be used for decorative signage, landscaping, brochures, or perhaps a future welcome center. It will provide the traveler countless resources that our community has to offer. | The Committee meets are the first Tuesday of the month. See meeting location below. The public is always welcome!
